From the garden to the soap dish

I recently co-hosted a bridal shower, and I found myself looking for a party favor idea. I needed something that wouldn’t break our budget, but that wouldn’t be a complete drag.

The perfect balance came in the form of DIY soap. I found a recipe that was both simple and convenient, and I was on my way!

It was simple because it involved only a few steps:

  1. Make a super-concentrated herbal infusion.
  2. Melt the soap base (I used goat’s milk glycerin).
  3. Mix the two, adding in some oils and herbs.
  4. Pour and cool.

It was convenient because the two main ingredients, lavender and rosemary, are fixtures in my garden. Even more special, considering the reason for our party: the lavender was a gift from my partner to me at my own bridal shower in 2013.

Overall, I think the favor was a hit. It was inexpensive and easy to make, to boot. DIY win!
